Mine Control Operator
About the Role
- Provide supporting role to shift supervisors by offering up-to-date information on location and equipment status to meet daily shift plan requirements.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels within the organization and with key contractors.
- Actively source and train personnel for PITRAM coverage (e.g., leave, illness, and succession planning).
- Uphold professional and ethical standards, while taking ownership of your personal performance and development in alignment with departmental and company goals.
Safety and Wellbeing
- Promote and maintain safety performance by adhering to company policies and procedures, fostering a culture of safe and productive work behaviours.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Acts, Regulations, and safe work practices.
- Act as Initial Emergency Response for underground incidents, notifying relevant personnel and documenting as required.
- Monitor weather and lightning conditions and communicate necessary updates to underground personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings and actively contribute to safety improvements across the organisation.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring adherence to housekeeping programs.
- Report and track incidents, contributing to investigations where required.
Business Support
- Monitor and record operational data and equipment status in the PITRAM mine control system with high accuracy.
- Process paperwork promptly and maintain high work standards.
Operations
- Ensure PITRAM database is accurate and regularly updated with relevant locations and task descriptors.
- Foster effective working relationships with Underground Foreman, Geology, and Engineering teams to ensure accurate PITRAM data.
- Provide timely location and equipment status updates in alignment with daily shift plans and monthly schedules, distributing reports promptly.
- Liaise with Maintenance Department to monitor equipment breakdowns and ensure timely repairs to optimise equipment utilisation and reduce idle time.
Growth
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PITRAM system by providing feedback on software fixes and improvements.
Customers
- Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships in alignment with the company’s strategic objectives and focus on value creation.
Innovation and Technology
- Contribute to the development of semi-automated information capture and logging processes.
Person Specifications
Qualifications
- Desirable: Current ‘C’ Class Manual Driver’s Licence
Skills and Experience
- Essential:
- Sound computer/database administration skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent people management and communication skills.
- Desirable:
- Experience in underground mining operations.
- Familiarity with PITRAM systems in an underground environment.
- Strong time management skills.
