Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $90k-$100k + super (negotiable based on experience)

Our client is a respected community-based organisation committed to supporting individuals, children, families, and communities in navigating complex life challenges. Operating across Western Australia, the organisation focuses on trauma-informed, culturally safe services that promote healing, empowerment, and resilience.
An opportunity is now available for a compassionate and skilled Counsellor to join the team in Derby WA and support young people affected by sexual violence or at risk of harm.
The Role
This is a meaningful and community-focused counselling role supporting Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and non-Aboriginal children and young people under the age of 25 who have experienced or are at risk of sexual abuse. It also includes working with young people who may be responsible for harmful sexual behaviours.
The role blends counselling, community engagement, group facilitation, and interagency collaboration to provide holistic, culturally responsive support.
Key responsibilities include:
* Providing individual counselling and traditional healing interventions for children and families
* Facilitating group education and healing programs for children, parents, and community members
* Building strong relationships with local service providers, including child protection, police, health services, and Aboriginal communities
* Ensuring all casework and documentation aligns with trauma-informed, child-safe practices
* Participating in regular clinical supervision and reflective practice
* Contributing to program reporting, data collection, and service improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:
* Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or a related field
* Relevant experience in trauma, child protection, or family violence services
* Ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal children, families, and communities
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Experience delivering group programs with children and/or adults
* A good understanding of the Kimberley region and its cultural context is highly desirable
Mandatory Requirements:
* National Police Clearance (current)
* Working with Children Check (WA)
* WA Driver’s Licence
