Underground Manager – WA Gold Operation
A leading Western Australian gold producer is seeking an experienced Underground Manager to lead operations across a high-performing, long-life underground mine. This role is suited to a proven UG leader who can drive culture, safety, and production while partnering with senior leadership to optimise the next phase of growth.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the GM, you’ll be fully accountable for underground operations, people performance, and statutory compliance. This is a key leadership role shaping the future of a cornerstone WA asset.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide statutory leadership for all underground mining activities in accordance with the WA WHS (Mines) legislation.
- Lead a large, multi-disciplinary underground workforce including Technical Services, Operations, Maintenance, and Contractor partners.
- Drive a high-performance culture focused on safety, accountability, and operational discipline.
- Oversee development, production, scheduling and execution to meet budgeted ounces and cost targets.
- Optimise mine plans in partnership with Technical Services to lift productivity and extend mine life.
- Build strong contractor relationships; manage performance, cost and service quality.
- Champion continuous improvement across people, systems, and operational practices.
- Provide clear reporting, risk management, and forward planning to senior leadership.
Is this for you?
- Extensive underground hard-rock experience with proven success as an Underground Manager, Alternate UM, or Senior Ops Leader in gold or high-grade base metals.
- Strong operational and technical acumen – able to balance production delivery with long-term asset health.
- Credible and decisive leader who can build teams, hold standards, and create a positive, performance-led culture.
- Confident working with contractors and leading complex UG environments.
- Clear communicator with strong planning, risk, and stakeholder capability.
Qualifications
- First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate (WA) – essential.
- Bachelor of Mining Engineering (desirable but not mandatory).
- Proven track record operating within WHS Mines Regulations.
