Geology Technician- Resource Definition
Role Summary
Reporting to the Senior Resource Definition Geologist, the Resource Definition (RD) Geology Technician is responsible for undertaking geological and drill rig/core yard activities that support the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective growth of mineral resources. This role plays a key part in the execution of resource definition drilling programs, ensuring high‑quality sample collection, processing, and data integrity.
This is a contract position suited to candidates with hands‑on experience in drill core processing and/or RC sampling within a resource definition or exploration environment.
Key Responsibilities

Assist with resource definition drilling programs, working closely with geologists, drillers, and other site personnel.

Process diamond drill core, including core handling, marking up, orientation, cutting, sampling, and core yard management.

Collect and manage Reverse Circulation (RC) drill samples, including sample splitting, bagging, labeling, and QA/QC procedures.

Perform surface field technician duties, including drill site setup, sample logistics, and housekeeping.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe core yard and drill site environment.

Ensure accurate sample tracking, labelling, and chain‑of‑custody processes.

Adhere to all site safety, environmental, and company procedures.

Communicate effectively with the Senior Resource Definition Geologist and broader geology team regarding daily activities and issues.

Work both independently and as part of a team to meet program timelines and operational requirements.
Required Skills & Experience

Minimum 6 months demonstrated experience in drill core processing OR

Minimum 6 months demonstrated experience in Reverse Circulation (RC) sample collection and surface field technician processes.

Practical experience working on resource definition or exploration drilling programs.

Strong understanding of safe work practices in a mining or exploration environment.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and supervisors.

Proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
Qualifications & Licences

Current manual driver’s licence (mandatory).

Previous site‑based geology technician experience highly regarded.
