Our client, a leading Australian geotechnical engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team. With established offices in both Perth and Brisbane, they offer the flexibility to be based in either location while working on high-profile projects across the mining sector.

The Role

As Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be instrumental in delivering tailings dam projects from concept through to operational phases. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the design, analysis, and management of tailings storage facilities
  • Providing expert technical oversight and governance across multiple projects
  • Mentoring and developing geotechnical engineers within the team
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships across the mining industry
  • Contributing to business development and strategic growth initiatives
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in tailings dam design, construction, and/or operational management
  • Strong understanding of tailings governance frameworks and regulatory compliance
  • Proven track record in technical leadership and team mentorship
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
  • RPEQ or eligibility for CPEng/NER highly regarded
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
