Mechanical Trade Assistant – Workshop Based | Temp to Perm | Career Progression

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Trade Assistant to join a busy engineering workshop based in Perth.

This is a Monday to Friday role with occasional Saturday work, offering genuine temp-to-perm opportunities and clear progression pathways for the right candidate.

About the Role

Working in a fast-paced workshop environment, you will support tradespeople and assist with fabrication and mechanical processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting tradesmen with job setup and daily workshop tasks
• Operating a forklift to load, unload, and move materials
• Operating overhead cranes.
• Setting up machines and loading workpieces
• Using hand and power tools including grinders, ratchets, and socket sets
• General workshop housekeeping and equipment cleaning
• Maintaining strict safety and quality standards

About You

To be successful, you must have:

• Previous workshop experience (essential)
• Current Forklift Licence (essential)
• Experience using grinders, ratchets, sockets and general hand/power tools
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to follow workshop procedures
• Own transport and valid driver’s licence
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Desirable but not essential:

• Ability to read basic plans/drawings
