Head of Maintenance
The Head of Maintenance is responsible for the overall reliability, safety, performance and lifecycle management of all plant, equipment & infrastructure within a specialised plastic and steel products manufacturing facility. This role provides strategic direction, implementation and governance of maintenance systems, people and engineering standards to ensure optimal plant availability, risk control and long-term asset integrity.
The Head of Maintenance will:
- Lead and develop the maintenance team, establishing clear accountability between Head, Manager and Supervisors.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategy and reliability performance.
- Own and control preventative maintenance systems (Limble).
- Oversee asset lifecycle planning and capital maintenance forecasting.
- Oversee strategy for spares, inventory, parts & critical asset control for all major plant and infrastructure.
- Be responsible Maintenance budget control.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are recorded and traceable, monitor and report system compliance and backlog performance.
- Be responsible for plant safety & engineering risk (in collaboration with Risk Manager).
- Drive Engineering & continuous improvement (in collaboration with Engineering Manager).
- Ensure alignment with ISO 9001, AS/NZS 4130 and internal QMS requirements.
To be considered for this role we are seeking:
- Qualifications in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industrial maintenance within the manufacturing industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a maintenance function in an extrusion or heavy industrial manufacturing setting.
- Strong knowledge of CMMS systems.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets.
- Strong understanding of WHS legislation and engineering compliance standards.
- Demonstrated strategic asset management capability.
- Advanced fault analysis and reliability thinking.
- Excellent financial management and cost control skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills.
- Structured, systems driven mindset with strong decision-making skills under pressure.
