Mental Health Clinician – Suicide Prevention Outreach

Salary: $74,317.94 – $138,482 + Superannuation (depending on experience) + benefits
About the Company
Our client is a respected provider in the community mental health sector, known for their strong commitment to improving community wellbeing and supporting people experiencing mental health challenges. They are seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join their team and contribute to delivering compassionate, recovery-oriented support for individuals experiencing suicidal distress.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mental Health Clinician to step into a meaningful role providing outreach-based crisis support and follow-up care for individuals experiencing or recovering from suicidal distress.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing direct clinical support and rapid response outreach to individuals at risk of suicide.
- Delivering crisis intervention, psychosocial support, safety planning, and recovery or wellness planning.
- Collaborating with crisis services, community support organisations, and other key stakeholders to facilitate referrals and coordinated care.
- Identifying individuals who require longer-term support and linking them with appropriate community services and supports.
- Participating in professional development, supervision, mandatory training, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Working collaboratively with peer workers and providing clinical consultation where required.
You’ll work closely with peer support workers and multidisciplinary teams and be a key part of the broader community mental health support network.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field, with relevant professional registration or eligibility for membership with the appropriate professional body.
- Demonstrated experience providing assessment, crisis intervention, and evidence-based treatment for individuals experiencing mental health distress in community settings.
- Understanding of person-centred care, trauma-informed practice, and recovery-oriented approaches, including working respectfully with diverse communities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and service partners.
- Competent computer skills and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- Willingness to work shift work, including after-hours and weekends where required.
