Podiatrist – Community and Locum Opportunities

- Permanent Part time or Full time available
- Community Position – we have NOR, SOR, Metro and Regional
- We also have a Locum Podiatrist opportunity available
- Pool cars are available at base site or open to using own car with kms paid by organisation
- Hours and days can be negotiated for those who chose part time
- Competitive rates dependent on experience plus super
- Salary packaging Available – $18,550
The Role:
- Provide comprehensive foot assessments for older clients in community and home settings
- Diagnose and treat common conditions such as corns, calluses, ulcers, infections, and nail disorders
- Deliver routine foot care, including nail trimming, debridement, and skin care
- Develop and implement individualised treatment and care plans
- Monitor and manage high-risk feet, particularly for clients with Diabetes Mellitus and vascular conditions
- Perform wound care management and liaise with nurses/GPs for complex cases
- Prescribe and fit orthotics and pressure-relieving devices to improve mobility and prevent injury
- Educate clients and carers on foot hygiene, footwear, and preventative care strategies
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and reporting in line with aged care standards
- Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (e.g., nurses, physiotherapists, care coordinators)
- Conduct home visits and outreach services, often across regional or remote areas
- Identify and escalate clinical risks such as infections, falls risk, or deteriorating condition
The successful candidate will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Podiatry and current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
- Demonstrated experience in community or aged care settings (desirable)
- Strong clinical knowledge in managing high-risk foot conditions, including Diabetes Mellitus
- Ability to work independently in community/home environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to elderly clients
- Experience in wound care management and preventative foot care
- Ability to develop and implement individualised care plans
- Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a mobile caseload
- Competency in clinical documentation and reporting systems
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel for home visits
- Understanding of aged care standards and client-centred care principles
- National Police Clearance and relevant vaccinations (as required for aged care roles)
