General Practitioner – Aboriginal Medical Service Locum and Permanent Roles

About the Company
Our client is a well-established Not-for-Profit Aboriginal Medical Service dedicated to delivering culturally safe, holistic and community-centred healthcare to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Operating across multiple regional locations, they support communities through an integrated model of care that includes primary healthcare, aged care, NDIS, allied health and community outreach programs.
They are seeking General Practitioners to join their teams nationally and contribute to improving long-term health outcomes within First Nations communities.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced General Practitioner to step into a highly rewarding role offering both professional purpose and exceptional work-life balance.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing high-quality, evidence-based primary healthcare services
Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions
Delivering culturally safe and trauma-informed care
Participating in preventative health programs and community initiatives
You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams including Registered Nurses, Aboriginal Health Workers, Midwives and Allied Health professionals, playing a key role in delivering integrated and continuous care.
There are also opportunities to supervise registrars and develop special interest areas such as women’s health, dermatology, chronic disease management or Indigenous health.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
Current registration with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
FRACGP or FACRRM (or equivalent recognised fellowship)
Vocational Registration with the Australian Medical Council / Medicare
Experience in general practice, ideally within regional or community health settings
Strong communication skills and a commitment to culturally safe care
Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Experience working within an Aboriginal Medical Service or culturally diverse environment will be highly regarded.
