The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join a specialist Child Inpatient Mental Health Unit & Community Health. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver evidence-based care to children up to 12 years of age presenting with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering high-quality, patient-centred nursing care in line with care plans
* Supporting children and families to actively participate in treatment and recovery goals
* Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal clinical outcomes
* Participating in clinical handovers, team huddles, and care planning discussions
* Maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
* Escalating clinical concerns and seeking guidance from senior staff when required
You’ll work closely with the Nurse Unit Manager and broader Child & Youth Mental Health team as part of a specialised service.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
* Registration as a Psychiatric Nurse with relevant clinical experience
* Experience or strong interest in child and youth mental health
* Sound understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed, and family-centred care
* Ability to engage effectively with children, families, and carers
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team
* Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Mental Health Act and Child, Youth & Families frameworks)
