Senior Mining Engineer – 4:3 Roster
Senior Mining Engineer | Gold | Perth-Based → Site (WA)
Ready for a role with genuine scope, autonomy and a clear line of sight to bigger things? This is a rare opportunity to join a well-funded, fast-moving gold operation as it moves from restart into multi-site production – and to shape the mine engineering function from the ground up.
The opportunity
You’ll start in our Perth office, working directly with the Chief Technical Officer on the design and development of a new gold mine as it heads toward first ore. As the operation ramps up, you’ll transition to a site-based role on a 4/3 roster – leading mine engineering across multiple contract-mined open pits as the portfolio expands from one site to three.
Within 12 months, this role will carry responsibility for site mining engineers across two operating pits, with a third on the horizon shortly after. If you want a technical role that keeps growing in scope rather than staying static, this is it.
Salary
The salary bracket is sitting at $180,000 – $210,000 base salary + $20,000 STI + super, transitioning to a lucrative site package with 4/3 roster, additional site allowance and up to $15,000 production bonus.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading mine design, scheduling and optimisation for open pit operations from planning through to production
- Playing a key hand in operational readiness and restart execution – fleet strategy, infrastructure, contractor mobilisation
- Overseeing drill and blast plans, and the technical performance of mining contractors and partners
- Reporting on production performance, KPIs and safety, and driving continuous improvement in cost and productivity
- Supporting the CTO on mine compliance, approvals and mine closure planning
- Building and mentoring a team of site-based mining engineers as the portfolio scales
What you’ll bring
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)
- WA Quarry Manager’s Certificate – preference to hold the QM ticket, however willingness to obtain one is also considered.
- Solid experience in gold or hard-rock open pit operations, ideally including mine restarts and contract mining models
- Confidence with mine planning software (Deswik preferred)
- The commercial nous and communication skills to influence contractors, partners and internal stakeholders alike
Why this one’s different
- A genuinely growing asset base – this is the first of several senior technical hires planned over the next six months as the business scales
- Real progression: broader accountability, more sites, more people, within a short time frame
- A strong, competitive remuneration structure both in Perth and on site, with upside for the right safety credentials
- The chance to build a mine engineering function rather than slot into an existing one
