About the Company

Our client is a highly respected Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service delivering comprehensive primary healthcare across East Arnhem Land.

They are seeking a passionate Registered Midwife to join their multidisciplinary team in Gapuwiyak, where you’ll play a key role in delivering maternal and women’s health services while working alongside experienced Aboriginal Health Practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a Midwife looking to broaden their scope of practice in a rewarding remote health setting. Working within a Primary Health Care model, you’ll provide continuity of care for women throughout pregnancy and beyond while contributing to the overall health of the community.

Key responsibilities include:

• Deliver high-quality antenatal, postnatal and women’s health care.
• Provide cervical screening, family planning and preventative health services.
• Deliver health education relating to pregnancy, sexual health and healthy lifestyles.
• Work collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Practitioners to provide culturally safe, community-led care.
• Coordinate care with hospitals, specialists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing service development.
• Contribute to the after-hours on-call roster, providing emergency clinical support when required.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife (dual RN registration highly regarded)
• Experience in antenatal, postnatal or women’s health.
• A passion for delivering culturally safe, person-centred care.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships within remote communities.
• The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Current driver’s licence.

Remote area nursing experience is highly regarded but not essential. Midwives with hospital, rural or community experience who are looking to transition into remote primary healthcare are encouraged to apply.
