The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Remote Area Midwife to support women and families through pregnancy, birth planning and early parenthood.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary Maternal and Women’s Health team alongside an experienced Aboriginal Health workforce.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide high-quality antenatal and postnatal care to women and families.
- Support women throughout pregnancy, birth planning and early parenthood.
- Build trusted relationships with women, families and community leaders.
- Deliver culturally safe, holistic and community-focused models of care.
- Work collaboratively with Aboriginal Health Practitioners and multidisciplinary teams.
- Contribute to improved maternal and child health outcomes.
- Support health promotion, education and preventative health initiatives.
- Engage respectfully with local culture and learn from community knowledge holders.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
- Current registration as a Midwife with AHPRA.
- Experience working in maternity, antenatal and postnatal care.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- A genuine commitment to working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work autonomously within a remote multidisciplinary environment.
- Flexibility and resilience when working in a remote setting.
- A current driver’s licence; 4WD driving experience is highly regarded.
- Willingness to travel by small charter aircraft between remote communities.
What’s On Offer
- Salary: $100,000 – $152,000
- Housing and utilities provided, subject to applicable conditions
- Salary packaging up to $15,900
- Meals & Entertainment packaging up to $2,650
- 6 weeks annual leave + 17.5% leave loading

- 12 days personal leave
- Annual travel assistance of up to $2,179.89 per annum
- Study leave and up to $1,800 study assistance
- Post-Graduate Allowance of 2% of salary
