Project Manager | Tier 2 Industrial
A privately owned construction business is looking to add an experienced Project Manager to its Brisbane team as it continues to secure new work across South East Queensland.
The business has a healthy forward workload and is looking for someone capable of taking responsibility for projects, leading established delivery teams and maintaining strong control across programme, commercial performance and client outcomes.
This position will suit a Project Manager who enjoys being close to the delivery, making decisions and being trusted to run their projects without unnecessary layers of management.
The Position
Working alongside the broader management team, you will be responsible for the overall performance of your projects, coordinating the commercial and operational teams from the early stages through to successful completion.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Take overall responsibility for project delivery, programme and commercial outcomes
- Establish project strategies, construction sequencing and key milestones
- Lead and support site and commercial teams throughout delivery
- Maintain control of budgets, forecasts, cost-to-complete and project reporting
- Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiations and package management
- Manage contractual obligations, variations, claims, extensions of time and correspondence
- Work closely with consultants and design teams to resolve issues ahead of construction
- Chair project meetings and maintain clear communication across all parties
- Build productive relationships with clients, subcontractors and consultants
- Track project risks and address programme or commercial issues before they impact delivery
- Maintain high standards across safety, quality and compliance
- Coordinate completion, commissioning and project close-out
- Ensure project documentation and reporting remain accurate and up to date
What’s on Offer?
This isn’t a role where the Project Manager simply sits between multiple layers of management. You’ll be given the responsibility and resources to properly run your projects.
The opportunity offers:
- A strong and secured pipeline of projects across South East Queensland
- Autonomy over how you manage and deliver your projects
- Direct communication with the people making business decisions
- Well-established site and commercial support
- A business that values delivery rather than unnecessary corporate process
- Long-term career opportunities as the Queensland operation continues to develop
- Competitive salary package reflective of experience
What We’re Looking For
The successful candidate will have a strong building-construction background and be comfortable taking overall responsibility for a project.
Ideally, you will have:
- Previous experience delivering projects as a Project Manager for a head contractor
- Strong knowledge of construction methodology, sequencing and programming
- Experience managing projects through multiple stages of the construction lifecycle
- Commercial capability across forecasting, budgets, procurement and cost control
- Strong understanding of construction contracts and subcontract management
- Experience managing variations, claims and contractual timeframes
- Proven ability to lead site and commercial personnel
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
- Ability to identify problems early and make practical decisions
- A strong understanding of safety, quality and compliance requirements
- Relevant construction, engineering or quantity surveying qualifications
