Counsellor (Child Healing Practitioner) – Aboriginal Health & Community Services

2 Positions Available – 1 Male Counsellor & 1 Female Counsellor

Location: Regional, WA
Job Type: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (75 hours per fortnight)
Salary: $83,964.04 – $100,444.50

About the Organisation

Our client is a community-focused Aboriginal health and wellbeing organisation committed to delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed services to children, young people, adults and families.

The organisation supports individuals, families and communities impacted by trauma, child sexual abuse, family and domestic violence, and grief and loss, with a strong focus on healing, resilience, connection to culture and improved social and emotional wellbeing.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

• Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, values and the issues affecting Aboriginal children, young people and families.
• Knowledge and understanding of trauma, including child sexual abuse, domestic violence, and grief and loss.
• A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a related discipline is preferred. Relevant Diplomas or Certificates combined with extensive professional and lived experience will also be considered.
• Experience working therapeutically with children, young people and families.
• Strong counselling, communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Competence with basic computer programs and professional documentation.
• Experience facilitating group programs with children and/or adults is desirable.
• Previous experience in counselling services, youth services or social and emotional wellbeing programs is highly desirable.
