A well-established WA-based commercial building contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the Perth metropolitan area.

With a strong pipeline of work and multiple projects progressing simultaneously, the business is looking to bring surveying capability in-house for the first time. This is an opportunity to take ownership of the surveying function across a broad range of commercial construction projects, with genuine autonomy and the ability to shape how the function operates moving forward.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Surveyor to take ownership of surveying requirements across approximately 14 live construction projects throughout Perth.

Working directly with the Construction Managers, you’ll be responsible for ensuring works remain accurately set out and on track throughout the construction lifecycle.

This is a highly autonomous position where you’ll manage your own schedule, determine project priorities and move between sites as required. You’ll work closely with Construction Managers and site teams to identify and address any surveying discrepancies before they become larger issues.

The role would suit someone from a commercial building, construction or relevant surveying background who is comfortable working independently and wants the opportunity to build and own a surveying function within a growing business.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct surveying activities across multiple commercial construction projects
• Undertake initial and ongoing site set-out and verification works
• Carry out measurements, levels, checks and data collection throughout each project
• Interpret construction drawings, plans and specifications to ensure accurate positioning of works
• Re-check works throughout construction to ensure projects remain on track against approved set-out
• Identify and communicate any discrepancies, errors or inconsistencies to the Construction Managers
• Maintain accurate survey records, data and documentation
• Coordinate your own schedule across multiple projects at different stages of construction
• Liaise closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers and site personnel
• Travel between metro project sites as required
• Take ownership of the company’s surveying equipment and systems
• Assist with additional surveying-related requirements as the function develops

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in construction surveying, engineering surveying or a related surveying discipline
• Commercial building or construction experience is highly regarded
• Strong ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
• Comfortable undertaking set-out, measurements, levels and verification work
• Able to work autonomously and manage multiple projects
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach
• Good communication skills and the confidence to work directly with Construction Managers and site teams
• A positive attitude and willingness to take ownership of the function
• Experience level is flexible – the business is open to both emerging surveyors and experienced professionals
