About the Company
Our client is a respected leader in the community services sector, known for integrity, respect, teamwork, continuous improvement, and innovation. They are currently seeking an AOD Counsellor to join their team and support the delivery of holistic, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate programs that address alcohol and other drug use in the local community.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced AOD Counsellor to step into a rewarding role based in Roebourne, offering meaningful work and professional development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing evidence-based therapeutic assessments, interventions, and clinical techniques to clients affected by alcohol and other drug use, dependency, and dual diagnosis disorders
- Accurately recording client interactions and group activities in the Client Management System and other required records
- Building therapeutic relationships and collaborating with clients on treatment planning, case management, relapse prevention, and personal wellbeing strategies
- Contributing as an effective member of our client’s multidisciplinary team across various AOD service programs including sobering up, detoxification, rehabilitation, and transitional housing support
- Participating in internal and community-based meetings, including treatment planning and clinical discussions
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, values, and community connections
You’ll work closely with the Team Leader – Community AOD Services and play a key role in delivering impactful, client-focused care.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
- A qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or Counselling
- Membership with the Australian Counselling Association and/or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia
- Significant experience working with clients in AOD and/or mental health case management settings
- Experience working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in using computers for data entry and communication
- Initiative and the ability to work independently when needed
- Knowledge of risk, safety, and compliance requirements in a health-focused environment
Mandatory Requirements:
- Current WA Driver’s Licence
- National Police Clearance
- Working with Children Check
- Evidence of up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination (desirable)
