Chief Geologist
The Chief Geologist will report directly to the Site Senior Executive and be responsible for ensuring compliance with mine safety legislation. Key responsibilities include:
- Reporting all safety matters immediately to the Site Senior Executive.
- Leading and assisting in coordinating all emergency response efforts on site.
- Providing back to back and ad-hoc coverage for the Site Senior Executive when required.
- Maintaining continuous updates on geological wireframes and block models.
- Assisting in the development of future mining proposals.
- Managing the technical services department.
- Formalising dilution and grade control procedures for the primary contractor.
- Managing grade classification and assay certificate issuance.
- Setting up and managing an on-site lab for assay certification.
- Establishing site-specific procedures related to geology, including sampling.
- Optimising pit designs to meet monthly schedules and overall mine plans.
- Leading morning meetings with the primary contractor.
- Assisting with blending management to optimise recovery and metal content.
- Managing exploration or grade control programs.
- Overseeing MRE reports and reviewing consultant work.
- Assisting with beneficiation of low-grade materials.
- Handling additional tasks as required by the Site Senior Executive.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of experience mining
- Experience in FIFO roles is essential.
- Preferred experience in beneficiation processes.
- Experience in laboratory setup and issuing shipping certificates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Science, or an equivalent field.
- First Aid certification.
- Deswik software proficiency preferred.
- Manual driver’s license (C class).
- National Police Clearance and Dangerous Goods Security Card (DGSC).
