Clinical Psychologist and Practice Lead
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced clinician-leader to step into a senior, revenue-generating role that combines hands-on clinical work with leadership, operations, and strategy (structured as a 50/50 split).
Key responsibilities include:
- Active Clinical Practice: Provide high-quality clinical services within your discipline (psychology, occupational therapy, or speech pathology) – Maintain clinical credibility and connection with clients and clinicians – Model high standards of ethical, evidence-based practice1. Practice Growth & External Relationships
- Practice Growth & External Relationships: – Lead recruitment strategy in partnership with the People & Culture Lead – Shape and communicate the practicies employer narrative clearly and confidently – Support sourcing, selection, and onboarding of high-quality clinicians – Contribute to workforce planning to ensure capacity matches referral demand – Strengthen retention through clear expectations, development pathways, and supportive leadership
- Multidisciplinary Clinical Leadership: – Provide senior clinical leadership across psychology, occupational therapy, and speech pathology – Lead clinicians in disciplines outside your own technical expertise with respect and clarity – Act as an escalation point for complex clinical, ethical, or boundary matters – Support consistent clinical standards and high-quality care across services – Work closely with the Service Development Officer to embed clinical standards into practice
- Clinician Performance & Accountability: – Lead clinician performance reviews across disciplines – Set clear expectations regarding quality, professionalism, and conduct – Identify and address underperformance early and constructively – Lead performance improvement processes and difficult conversations when required
- Culture, Wellbeing & Psychological Safety: – Act as a senior holder of team wellbeing and culture – Monitor morale, workload, and burnout risk – Support the People & Culture Lead in embedding Prosper’s values – Intervene early in people or cultural issues before they escalate
- Operations & Systems: – Hold accountability for day-to-day operational functioning across locations – Identify and resolve service or system issues – Strengthen workflows, systems, and accountability structures – Support administrative teams with clinical judgement and boundary guidance when required, without becoming the default for all queries
- Strategy & Sustainability: – Work in partnership with the Owner to contribute to the ongoing strategic direction of the practice – Translate strategic priorities into practical leadership and operational action – Balance growth, care quality, clinician wellbeing, and financial sustainability in decision-making
What You Need:
- Current professional registration as a AHPA Clinical Psychologist
- Proven experience leading clinicians and managing performance
- Strong operational judgement and systems-thinking capability
- Ability to balance senior leadership responsibilities with an active clinical caseload
- High emotional intelligence and confidence in decision-making
- Private practice or mixed-funding experience (NDIS/Medicare) highly regarded
- MDT experience and formal leadership training (desirable)
