Counsellor – Child, Youth & Family Services
Location: Kimberley Region
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 per year (based on experience) + super + allowances

The Role
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Counsellor to deliver specialist therapeutic services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people under 25 who have experienced complex trauma.
The role involves a mix of office-based and outreach work and plays a key role in supporting children, families and the broader community in the West Kimberley region.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing culturally safe, trauma-informed counselling to children, young people and families
- Conducting assessments, risk management and safety planning
- Delivering individual, family and group therapeutic programs
- Working collaboratively with schools, community organisations and government agencies
- Supporting referrals and advocacy for clients
- Maintaining accurate case notes, reports and data collection requirements
You’ll work closely with the Service Manager and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to integrated service delivery and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience working with children and young people impacted by complex trauma
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, with cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Strong counselling, case management and assessment skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or Counselling
- A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience
- Current National Police Clearance
- WA Working with Children Check
- Current WA Driver’s Licence
