An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join a newly established Family Domestic Violence (FDV) Program, supporting individuals and families impacted by family and domestic violence within a regional Aboriginal community.

The Role

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Counsellor, Psychologist, Social Worker, or Mental Health Nurse seeking meaningful work in a community-focused setting.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide trauma-informed therapeutic support, crisis intervention, case management, and wellbeing programs for individuals and families affected by family and domestic violence.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver culturally safe counselling and therapeutic interventions to individuals and families impacted by FDV
  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial and risk assessments
  • Develop and implement client-centred support plans
  • Provide crisis intervention and safety planning where required
  • Collaborate with internal programs and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated care
  • Facilitate group programs, education sessions, and community engagement activities
  • Maintain accurate client records and reporting requirements
  • Support positive outcomes through strengths-based and trauma-informed practice

You will work closely with an experienced Team Leader and a dedicated multidisciplinary team committed to creating safer and healthier communities.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, or related discipline
  • Current professional registration or membership where applicable (AHPRA, AASW, PACFA, ACA, etc.)
  • Experience working within mental health, family domestic violence, child and family services, or community services
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and risk assessment
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities or a demonstrated commitment to culturally safe practice
  • Excellent communication, engagement, and relationship-building skills
  • Current National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, and unrestricted driver’s licence
