Build the finance function behind Australia’s next critical minerals success story
Renewable Metals is redefining how the world recovers critical minerals.
We’ve developed a world-first alkali recycling process capable of recovering over 95% of metals from battery waste-cleaner, more efficient, and built for scale. Backed by leading climate-tech investors and government funding, we are now commissioning our large-scale demonstration plant in Perth, with full-scale operations targeted for 2026.
As we scale from early stage to industrial operations, we are looking for a hands-on Finance Manager to take ownership of the finance function and build the backbone of financial discipline, reporting, and control.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional Finance Manager role.
You won’t inherit a large team or sit removed from the detail. Instead, you will own the engine room of finance in a scaling business-working directly with the Head of Corporate Operations and leadership team to deliver accurate reporting, manage cash, and ensure compliance across multiple funding streams.
You’ll operate at the intersection of operations, engineering, and corporate, based onsite in Kewdale alongside the team bringing the plant to life.
This role offers a rare opportunity to:
- Step into a high-growth, funded climate-tech business
- Build and shape finance processes from the ground up
- Gain exposure to board, investor, and grant reporting
- Play a critical role in scaling a business at the forefront of the energy transition
Key Responsibilities include:
Financial Reporting & Management
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
- Deliver quarterly shareholder reporting packs
- Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes
- Support board reporting in collaboration with leadership
Grants & Compliance
- Own grant reporting, milestone tracking, and financial acquittals
- Maintain accurate cost allocation across projects and funding streams
Audit, Tax & Governance
- Manage the annual external audit end-to-end
- Oversee BAS and tax compliance (with external support)
- Support R&D tax incentive processes
Payments & Systems
- Manage accounts payable and payment workflows
- Ensure accurate cost coding across projects, grants, and suppliers
- Maintain finance systems (Xero / Precoro or similar)
Insurance & Risk
- Coordinate insurance renewals and board-level reporting
About You
You are a builder and operator, not just a reviewer.
You thrive in environments where things are evolving, and you’re comfortable owning outcomes end-to-end.
Experience & Background
- 5-7 years’ finance experience (CA or CPA qualified)
- Strong experience preparing management accounts in a growing business
- Proven experience managing external audits and working with advisors
- Experience with SME accounting systems (e.g. Xero)
- Exposure to grant funding, government reporting, or R&D tax (highly regarded)
- Background in industrial, manufacturing, resources, or startup environments advantageous
Attributes
- Execution-focused – you get things done
- Commercially aware – you understand the “why” behind the numbers
- Detail-oriented and organised under pressure
- Collaborative with non-finance stakeholders
- Comfortable with ambiguity in a scaling environment
Why Renewable Metals?
- Be part of a mission-driven company solving a global sustainability challenge
- Join at a pivotal growth phase with real influence on how the business scales
- Work alongside a high-calibre team backed by leading investors
- Competitive salary package aligned with experience
