The Business
Our client is a well-established, privately-owned contractor with over a decade of successful project delivery in the resources sector, primarily across Western Australia’s Northwest. They have built a strong reputation for quality delivery, on time and on budget, and have cultivated a loyal client base that continues to bring them repeat and referral work.
With a secure foundation now in place, the business is entering a deliberate growth phase. The goal is clear: scale from current turnover toward a $100m + business over the next two – three years. To achieve this, they need an experienced, commercially sharp General Manager to lead the charge.
The Opportunity
This is a broad, high-accountability role with full P&L responsibility across the Construction division. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take ownership of the business’s operational and strategic performance, from pre-contracts and estimating through to project delivery, client management, and business development.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Driving operational performance and profitability across all projects
- Leading pre-contracts, tendering strategy, and bid governance
- Building and retaining a high-performing leadership team
- Strengthening and growing existing client relationships
- Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
- Improving systems, procedures, and delivery frameworks
- Contributing to business strategy alongside the CEO
About You
You are an experienced operational leader who has grown up in contracting. You understand what it takes to win work and deliver it profitably, and you have the commercial acumen and people leadership to do both.
- 10+ years’ experience in construction, energy, or engineering, with significant time in GM or senior operational leadership
- Proven P&L ownership in a contracting environment – mining, resources, or heavy industrial focus preferred
- Strong pre-contracts and commercial background – tendering, estimating, risk, and contract management
- A natural leader and communicator, equally comfortable on-site or in the boardroom
- Driven, resilient, and genuinely motivated by growth – not just maintenance
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline preferred
- Perth-based with the ability to travel to project sites as required
