Job Details
Head of Engineering
- Lead engineering for a first-of-kind commercial process
- Own FEED delivery and modular plant design strategy
- Build and shape the engineering function as the company scales
Renewable Metals is redefining how the world recovers critical minerals.
We’ve developed a world-first alkali recycling process capable of recovering over 95% of metals from battery waste-cleaner, more efficient, and built for scale. Backed by leading climate-tech investors and government funding, we are now commissioning our large-scale demonstration plant in Perth, with full-scale operations targeted for 2026.
The Opportunity
This is one of the most technically significant engineering leadership roles in Australia’s emerging battery recycling sector.
Renewable Metals is building the engineering capability that will take its technology from demonstration scale to commercial deployment – and ultimately international licensing and modular replication.
As Head of Engineering, you will lead the engineering function across three critical workstreams:
- Commercial FEED study delivery for the Hunter Refinery
- Pilot plant engineering and scale-up
- Engineering authority for the operating demonstration plant
The centrepiece is ownership of the FEED study for an 8ktpa commercial hydrometallurgical facility designed as a globally deployable modular plant.
This is not conventional brownfields engineering. This is first-of-kind process commercialisation, modular plant design, and engineering decisions that directly shape the company’s future deployment optionality.
What You’ll Own
- Lead the engineering function and mentor a high-calibre technical team
- Own delivery of the FEED study and bankable technical package
- Drive modular and skid-based plant design strategy
- Provide engineering authority for the Kewdale demonstration plant
- Direct external consultants and technical stakeholders
- Support future commercial deployment and licensing strategy
About You
You are a technically rigorous engineering leader who can operate at both strategic and execution level.
- 10+ years’ experience in process, chemical, oil & gas, or minerals engineering
- Proven experience leading FEED, feasibility, or detailed design studies
- Strong modular/skid-based design capability
- Experience leading engineering teams and external consultants
- Comfortable operating in technically evolving environments
