HST Manager

Work closely as part of a highly focussed and motivated site management team, providing strategic and professional HST advice and support as required.

• Develop HST strategic plans, goals and targets that align with company processes and procedures.
• Initiate yearly objectives and improvement plans identified through the continuous improvement processes.
• Maintain a Mine Safety Management Systems that meets WA WHS Act and Regulations
• Ensure that all statutory requirements are met within the framework of the WA WHS Act and Regulations
• Coordinate the implementation and compliance to the company Risk management standard across the operations, ensuring quarterly reviews are completed, and extreme risk controls are continually verified and updated as required.
• Facilitate the running of the site Safety and Health Committees, including the Site Safety Lead Team.
• Develop annual HST Performance Targets for the site and cascade them down through the organisation.
• Provide advice and support to line management and site HST practitioners regarding development and implementation of HST systems and standards.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to site HST professionals.
• Ensure WA WHS requirements for occupational hygiene and exposure monitoring are achieved.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and plans for all operating and capital resources required to achieve all established targets in all aspects of the HST Department.
• Conduct regular and detailed review of all resources expended and exercise required controls to ensure that budget, forecast and plan results are achieved.
• The HST Manager will be required to manage the function across the process plant, UG operations and legacy sites
• The systems and processes will be developed in accordance with and aligned to ISO standards (ISO 45001 and ISO 14001)

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Health Science, Occupational Health & Safety

Required Skills

• The position will suit a proven Health Safety & Training Manager with significant experience in HST site-based leadership
• Specific experience in the mining industry is preferred (if so, underground operations experience would be preferred)
• Extensive knowledge and practical application of safety management systems, risk management and behavioural safety
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and build effective relationships and networks
• Possess strong influencing skills and the ability to develop an effective HST Team
• Demonstrate strong conceptual skills, and be capable of developing lateral and practical solutions
• Strong influencing skills and a history of successfully leading a change programme, resulting in improved levels of performance
