An exciting opportunity has become available for a Junior Contract Administrator or Contract Administrator to join a rapidly growing Queensland construction business delivering a strong pipeline of commercial and industrial projects across Southeast Queensland.
This is an opportunity suited to someone who has built the foundations of their construction career and is now looking for a business where they can develop quickly, take on more responsibility and build a genuine long-term career.
You’ll be joining an experienced leadership team with backgrounds across some of Australia’s leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors. The business has ambitious growth plans across Queensland and is focused on developing its people alongside that growth.
Rather than being pigeonholed into one small part of the commercial function, you’ll gain exposure across the full project lifecycle, working closely with experienced Project Managers, Contract Administrators and Site Managers.
The Role
Depending on your current level of experience, you’ll be supported to gradually take ownership of your own packages and commercial responsibilities.
Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting with subcontractor procurement, tendering and letting packages

Preparing and issuing scopes of work and subcontract documentation

Reviewing subcontractor quotations and assisting with negotiations

Managing subcontractor progress claims and payment schedules

Assisting with project cost reporting, forecasting and budget management

Managing variations and maintaining variation registers
-
Supporting the assessment of EOTs and contractual correspondence
-
Processing purchase orders and project documentation
-
Tracking project costs against budgets
-
Working closely with subcontractors, consultants and suppliers
-
Supporting the Project Manager and senior commercial team throughout delivery

Attending project and subcontractor meetings

Assisting with project reporting and commercial administration

Maintaining accurate records throughout the project

Supporting subcontractor final accounts and project close-out
-
Developing an understanding of contractual risk and commercial decision-making
As your experience develops, you’ll be given greater ownership across procurement, cost management, subcontractor packages and overall project commercial performance.
About You
This opportunity could suit someone currently working as a Junior Contract Administrator, Contracts Administrator, Project Coordinator or Contracts Coordinator who wants to accelerate their development.
Ideally, you will have:

Approximately 1-3 years’ experience within the Australian construction industry

Experience working for a commercial builder or head contractor

Exposure to commercial, industrial, education, retail or similar construction projects

Some understanding of procurement, subcontractor management, variations and progress claims
