Maintenance Officer – Aged Care
We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Officer to join a respected aged care organisation in a hands-on role focused on ensuring buildings, grounds and equipment are maintained to a high standard. You will be responsible for responding to maintenance requests, completing preventative maintenance, coordinating with external contractors where required, maintaining safe work practices and identifying opportunities for improvement. - Permanent Full Time Position
- Location – Perth Metro Area with parking on site
- Monday to Friday – day time hours
- Salary starting at $38 per hour plus Super and Salary packaging
The Role:
- Maintain the buildings, grounds and facilities to ensure a safe, comfortable and well-presented environment for residents, staff and visitors.
- Respond promptly to corrective maintenance requests and ensure all work is appropriately documented.
- Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance across the site.
- Prioritise maintenance tasks effectively and manage competing demands in a timely manner.
- Identify maintenance issues requiring specialist attention and escalate these appropriately.
- Liaise with and provide access to external contractors, including electricians, plumbers and carpenters, when required.
- Monitor maintenance supplies, chemicals and equipment and advise management of replenishment requirements.
- Maintain maintenance, chemical and tool storage areas in a safe, clean and organised condition.
- Ensure maintenance activities are undertaken in accordance with relevant safety standards, regulations and legislation.
- Report hazards, incidents and maintenance-related safety concerns promptly.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace environment.
- Communicate professionally with residents, families, staff, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Contribute ideas and recommendations for improvements to facilities, maintenance processes and overall service delivery.
- Participate in required training, including fire and emergency procedures, chemical safety, manual handling and infection control.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure organisational resources are used appropriately
The Successful Candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities or building services role.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing maintenance requirements.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and respectful approach when dealing with residents, staff, contractors and other stakeholders.
- Good computer skills and the ability to complete maintenance documentation accurately.
- A proactive approach to identifying maintenance issues and contributing to continuous improvement.
- Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
- Experience working within a large facility, including exposure to lifts, chilled water air-conditioning systems and access control systems, will be highly regarded.
- Current National Police Clearance is required.
- Current C-Class driver’s licence valid in Western Australia is required.
- Current electrical tagging ticket, or the willingness and ability to obtain one, is required.
- Full working rights in Australia are essential – this position is not offering visa sponsorship.
