About the Company
Our client is a regional hospital NSW public healthcare sector, delivering essential inpatient, community and specialist mental health and drug and alcohol services across regional and remote New South Wales.
Join the newly built mental health unit that are commitment to culturally safe, patient-centred care, they play a vital role in supporting some of the state’s most vulnerable communities.
They are seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol or Mental Health Inpatient or CAMHS to join their multidisciplinary clinical teams.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to step into an acute mental health inpatient care or specialist drug and alcohol services or CAMHS.
Deliver 24-hour evidence-based nursing care within an inpatient mental health unit.
Supportclients experiencing substance use disorders through assessment, treatment, withdrawal management and Child & Adolescent Mental Health community-based case management.
Key responsibilities include: Providing recovery-oriented, person-centred mental health nursing care
* Conducting comprehensive assessments, triage, risk management and care planning
* Supporting clients through substance withdrawal in community and inpatient settings in line with clinical guidelines
* Delivering evidence-based drug and alcohol interventions using trauma-informed practice
* Coordinating care with families, carers, Aboriginal health services and external providers
* Participating in the Opioid Treatment Program and relapse prevention planning
* Responding effectively to mental health emergencies and changes in patient condition
* Completing clinical documentation, outcome measures and electronic records
* Supervising and mentoring junior staff and nursing students
* Contributing to quality improvement initiatives, clinical supervision and service development
You will work closely with Nurse Unit Managers, mental health clinicians, drug and alcohol specialists, Aboriginal health workers and community service providers.
What We’re Looking For
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:Current unrestricted AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
* Experience in mental health nursing and/or drug and alcohol services (minimum 2 years in D&A preferred)
* Strong understanding of recovery-oriented, trauma-informed and person-centred care
* Ability to work with consumers experiencing acute mental illness, substance use and co-morbidities
* Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation and clinical guidelines
* Demonstrated commitment to working respectfully with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
* Strong communication, documentation and clinical judgement skills
* Competency using electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office
* Current NSW driver’s licence
