Job Type: Part time – 3 days a week
Salary: $40 – $45 per hour + Super + + $0.99c per KM reimbursement

The Role
Our client is looking for enthusiastic, driven, and compassionate Mental Health Support Workers to join their expanding community-based team in Brisbane.

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you’ll provide practical, emotional, and recovery-focused support both in participants’ homes and out in the community. Your work will help foster independence, social inclusion, resilience, and overall wellbeing, making a lasting impact on the lives of those you support. You will be working with complex clients who present with behaviours including schizophrenia, depression, severe mental health, trauma backgrounds and more
The role involves providing person-centred support to help participants build independence, develop daily living skills, improve emotional regulation, access community activities, and achieve their NDIS goals. You will provide essential support to individuals who present with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, PTSD, severe anxiety, depression, self-harming behaviours, aggression, or social withdrawal. You will work collaboratively with families, clinicians, Behaviour Support Practitioners, and other stakeholders to implement behaviour support plans and strategies, manage risks, and improve participants’ overall quality of life and wellbeing. This is more than a standard support worker / allied health assistant position.

Key responsibilities include:
- Provide one-on-one support to participants with complex psychosocial disabilities, mental health conditions, and behaviours of concern, helping them achieve their NDIS goals and maintain independence.
- Implement Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs), risk management strategies, and clinician recommendations to support participants safely and effectively in the community.
- Assist participants with emotional regulation, crisis management, coping strategies, and developing skills to manage anxiety, distress, triggers, and challenging situations.
- Support participants to access the community, attend appointments, build social connections, engage in meaningful activities, and develop daily living and life skills.
- Accurately document incidents, progress notes, behavioural observations, and participant outcomes while collaborating with Behaviour Support Practitioners, Psychologists, Allied Health professionals, families, and support networks.
What We’re Looking For
- A proactive and person-centred approach to support
- Experience working with clients who have challenging behaviours of concern and psychosocial behaviours – Schizophrenia, Depression, Self Harm etc
- Experience reading and implementing behaviour support plans
- Certificate III or IV in Mental Health, Individual Support, Community Services, Disability, or a related field (or relevant industry experience)
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Valid Australian driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle
- National Police Check.
- Australian working rights
