Pit Technician

We are seeking experienced Pit Technicians to join one of our Mining Client’s open pit operation in Western Australia.

This is a FIFO position based from Perth, and offers an opportunity to join a highly successful Gold Mining operation.

As part of their strong development plans, an opportunity exist to receive practical training and upskilling from mining professionals in this open pit mining operation.

Position Details:

• Contract basis
• 2:1 or 2:2 roster from Perth
• Commercial flights
• Lifestyle Village and newly built onsite amenities
• Competitive contract rates
• Perth-based FIFO

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain pit wall stability and ground conditions
• Conduct regular pit inspections and geotechnical assessments
• Install and maintain groundwater monitoring systems
• Collect and record geological and geotechnical data
• Assist in the implementation of slope stability management plans
• Coordinate with drilling and blasting teams
• Prepare technical reports and maintain accurate documentation
• Support survey teams with pit progression monitoring

Required Qualifications:

• Certificate IV in Surface Extraction Operations or relevant qualification
• Current WA Driver’s License
• Current Mine Site Safety Induction
• Experience with mining software and monitoring systems
• Working at Heights certification
• Confined Space certification
• Full Australia working rights
• HRWL LF (Forklift)

Essential Experience:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in open pit mining operations
• Demonstrated knowledge of geotechnical principles
• Experience with groundwater monitoring systems
• Strong understanding of mining safety regulations
• Proficiency in relevant mining software
• LF Licence is required to be successful for this role

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with slope stability radar systems
• Knowledge of drilling and blasting operations
• First Aid certification
• Experience with data collection and analysis

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work in various weather conditions
• Capable of lifting up to 25kg
• Physical Fitness and able to work safely in an active mining operation
• Extended periods of standing and walking
• Pass pre-employment medical and drug screening
