Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Desktop Support Engineer to join our IT team on a 6-month initial contract. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of desktop environments, providing expert support, and driving improvements in IT services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and support for desktop, laptop, and peripheral hardware, operating systems, and software.
- Resolve complex technical issues escalated from junior support staff and ensure timely resolution to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Collaborate with other IT teams to identify, diagnose, and resolve system/network issues that affect end-user computing.
- Lead and participate in the deployment and maintenance of desktop infrastructure, including system upgrades, patch management, and software installations.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures, and support guides.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior desktop support staff, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company IT policies, security standards, and regulatory requirements in all desktop support activities.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiency enhancements in desktop support services.
- Manage and track IT assets, ensuring accurate inventory and lifecycle management.
- Participate in IT projects, providing expertise on desktop support requirements and implementation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior desktop support or similar role, preferably in a healthcare or large enterprise environment.
- Strong technical expertise in Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common desktop applications.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, with a deep understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and remote desktop tools.
- Experience with IT service management (ITSM) tools and frameworks, such as ITIL.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Proven track record of mentoring and leading junior IT staff.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, CompTIA A+, or ITIL Foundation are highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
